Iowans are now hunting mourning doves; as the state's first ever season is underway. The continent's most abundant game bird became 'legal' in Iowa, as the Iowa Legislature allowed establishment of a season. Look behind the planning and the planting that led up to the September 1, 2011 season. Wildlife officials will expand their food plots and dove fields, in the months ahead, for the next season.
